St Kilda played host to the 30th anniversary of the St Kilda Film Festival (SKFF) in style at the Festival Opening night held at the Palais Theatre. over 3000 film loving patrons attended to watch short films that had been produced for the festival. There were also some well known Australian TV and Film personalities in attendance which included Geoff ‘Coxy’ Cox (Coxy’s Big Break) Roy Billing (Underbelly), Drew Bailey (Producer), Kerry Armstrong (Bed of Roses), Laura Wheelwright (Winners & Losers), Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool) and Jacinta Stapleton (Neighbours).
A selection of speakers invoked applause and heckles from the crowd however as they say the show must go on, just before the films proceeded a moment was given to those who have passed away that had involvement within the film industry, which included The Astor cat “Marzipan”. Some of the Films that were shown included; Scratch, Death of a Bogan, Explosions and Julian.
